3 October 2025Hong KongJointly organised by International Motor Show (HK) Management Limited (IMSHK) and the Motor Traders Association of Hong Kong (MTA), the Tokyo Auto Salon Hong Kong (TAS · HK) 2025 Kick-start Ceremony and CarWalk Show was successfully held today, officially marking the commencement of this landmark event. The launch not only represents a new milestone for Hong Kong within the international automotive customisation landscape, but also reflects the city’s growing integration with the international stage, drawing industry leaders and members of the media to witness the occasion.

As one of the world’s most prestigious automotive modification exhibitions, Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) will make its Hong Kong debut from 11 to 14 December 2025. At the launch, organisers revealed highlights of the upcoming show, including a line-up of international exhibitors, several world-premiere customised vehicles, exclusive event merchandises, and the cross-sector collaborations. The event also previewed live demonstrations by renowned tuning masters, offering audiences a rare opportunity to witness craftsmanship at close quarters. With a strong emphasis on showcasing, networking and interaction, the exhibition aims to provide a professional platform that connects Hong Kong’s motoring community with the global market.

Leveraging the momentum of Mainland China’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle sector, the event aspires to open up new creative dimensions and serve as a cultural bridge between Japan and Greater China through the cross synergy generated from concurrent exhibitions.

Leading a New Wave of Customisation Culture and Building Asia’s Customisation Hub

Director-General of the Tokyo Auto Salon Association Junichi Fukui remarked, “We are honoured to bring TAS to Hong Kong. The city has always had a vibrant car culture and a strong spirit of innovation, making it an ideal platform to promote customisation culture and foster industry exchange. We believe TAS · HK will connect enthusiasts across Asia and beyond, enabling more people to understand, appreciate and experience the unique appeal of automotive customisation”.

Convenor of TAS · HK Organising Committee Wesley Wan added, “The successful landing of this event aligns perfectly with Hong Kong’s ambition to become an ‘Events Capital’. By introducing such an influential international exhibition, we aim to enrich the city’s event landscape, inject vitality into the community, and showcase both Hong Kong’s deep automotive culture and its strong capabilities in event management.”

CarWalk Show: “The Soul of Car Customisation” Masterpieces on Parade

The highlight of the day, the CarWalk Show, captivated the audience as 30 outstanding vehicles from the “Soul of Car Customisation” competition took centre stage. Spanning supercars, sports cars and sedans, the line-up exemplified the creativity and diversity of automotive customisation. Each vehicle reflected its owner’s distinctive philosophy and personality — meticulously expressed through design and detail. Presented in a dynamic parade, the showcase perfectly highlighted the elegance of automotive lines and raw performance, immersing guests and media in the full allure of modified vehicles.

Speaking at the event, Co-Founders of IMSHK Carmen Au-Yeung and Dora Li expressed, “The essence of customisation lies in challenging conventions and blending craftsmanship with creativity. Through the platform of TAS · HK, we aspire to establish the city as a major hub for customisation culture in Asia, while driving the exchange of innovation, technology, and cultural creativity.”

Looking Ahead: Building an Annual International Customisation Showcase

With the Kick-start Ceremony and CarWalk Show concluded, TAS · HK 2025 now enters its final stage of preparation. The Organisers expressed their ambition to position the exhibition as Hong Kong’s annual international automotive customisation event, attracting world-class brands and fostering cross-disciplinary integration between automotive design, aesthetics and technology. At the same time, efforts will be made to collaborate with local academic institutions and creative industries to inject further innovation and vitality into Hong Kong’s automotive culture.

The exhibition will be staged in parallel with the 5th International MotorXpo Hong Kong (IMXpo). Chairman of the HKMTA Ted Lau emphasised, “Hong Kong enjoys a unique advantage: on one hand, a solid foundation of car culture; on the other, proximity to Mainland China’s booming electric vehicle industry. Through this ‘dual expo synergy’, we aim to strengthen Hong Kong’s role as a strategic hub linking Mainland EV brands with Japan’s customisation expertise.”

Far more than just an exhibition, TAS · HK serves as a dynamic exchange platform for customisation culture and industry collaboration. With Hong Kong’s international connectivity, the event is set to become the new epicentre of Asia’s customisation scene. This debut marks only the beginning — working hand in hand with the industry, the Organisers aim to stage further cultural showcases in future, cementing Hong Kong’s status as a focal point of the Asian automotive world.
